Ayrton Senna

Ayrton, the boy from San Pablo

Who could give a human aspect to the F1 and change it radically? Aryton Senna of course

I believe that Ayrton Senna would have liked Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanti’s visit to the Monza Racing track in the days running up to the Great Italian Prize of 2003. The Cardinal invited the workers “to direct the economic interests in an acceptable and ethical manner. Allow me to add, that money must be used, we must not be used”.
In 1988, after the Montecarlo race track accident, Aryton got closer to God, more than he had ever done before. “I was always Catholic; just like we all are a little bit – I was saying – later someone talked to me and made me understand. My mother, my sister who are very religious, also some friends. Incredible but true, I always read the Bible with certainty, finding answers to my doubts” […] until that 1st of May 1994, Ayrton put up with sanctions and threats of sanctions as a result of his sincerity, honesty and above all, his new way of seeing things. He roused the Formula 1 with the phrase “I won many battles, lots of moments in which there were persons trying to destroy me. But they didn’t succeed”. On the other hand, I emerged even stronger than before as a result of the struggles, convinced that in this superficial world, it’s necessary to defend many values”. Ayrton realised that it’s difficult to change the world, but he was convinced that every one of us has a part to play. He offered his help with great dedication and courage and above all in silence. “I never said what I really do to combat poverty. The F1 is a misery with regard to this tragedy”. Still, for this Ayrton must be an example to many young people. An example, I wrote and not a myth. To convert something into a myth is the worst way to remember, because in the desire for the myth passiveness and apathy triumph. The example, instead, obliges us to think and act. The best way to remember is to ensure that the human factor always prevails; to ensure that living in this world will be a little less “sponsored and wild”.

Serse CosmiFrom the book by Serse Cosmi (with Enzo Bucchioni): THE RIVER MAN. MY LIFE, MY FOOTBALL ["L'uomo del fiume. La mia vita, il mio calcio"] ed. Baldini Castoldi Dalai

“I’m not a moralist, nor a pious person: I passed my life between park benches and barricades.
But when I see children with the footballers look, the footballer’s machine, the footballer’s girlfriend and footballer’s clothes, then I think that they will never succeed in being real footballers.
It will also be hard for them to become real men.”

Thanks Serse for having expressed your points of view which I also share. I believe that all common sense people think along the same lines so therefore we will have football which is derived from common sense, this is not only my impression...
I like the verses of a song by Fabrizio De André which introduce the book:

"… FROM DIAMONDS NOTHING IS BORN … FROM FILTH ARE BORN FLOWERS.... " we are pondering.
